Inefficient radiators can be caused by a number of issues, and in this post, we’re going to look at some of the most common problems that could be causing your radiators to run cold.
Warm at the top and cool at the bottom
If your radiators are warm at the top and cool at the bottom, it is a key indicator that sludge has got into your heating system. The easiest way to remedy this particular issue is by having a qualified heating engineer power flush the system, this will not only get rid of sludge but any other debris in your system too.
Warm at the bottom and cool at the top
If your radiators are warm at the bottom and cool at the top, there’s a strong chance that there is an air bubble trapped inside preventing them from being as efficient as they could. Luckily, you can usually remedy this problem by simply bleeding your radiators which is a very simple procedure.
You have no hot water
If your radiators are inefficient and you frequently have issues with your hot water too, it may indicate that you are experiencing a more serious boiler problem, and if that is the case, you will need to call a qualified heating engineer who has the knowledge, tools and replacement parts required.
