What is a condensing boiler?

Usually, in older boilers, the excess heat coming off the heating coils inside the boiler would be expelled in the form of gas. This is why you see some funnels at the back of homes where the boiler has been fitted. However, these gases are condensed and put on a cold coil which then allows the droplets to enter into the cool water which is coming into the boiler. So, before the water reaches the gas burner or heating coil, the water is already warm. Hence, your boiler doesn’t need to work as hard, and saves you money. In fact, condensing boilers are 90% more efficient as a result.
